Cryptocurrencies
Cryptocurrencies are a form of virtual currencies that are tracked using a blockchain, similar to NFTs. However, while ownership is tracked with the same technology, cryptocurrencies still have some key differences. If an NFT is like the painting you find at an art fair, a cryptocurrency is like the cash you use to buy it. Each coin of a specific currency has a value identical to every other coin in that currency, and each currency can have any number of coins (currently, there are roughly 19 million bitcoins, but SHIBA INU has roughly 1 quadrillion coins in circulation). However, much like NFTs, the value a coin in a cryptocurrency is based on previous transactions with that coin. Each of the prevalent coins, like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and so on have thousands of transactions stored in the blockchain that justify the value of the coins.
Cryptocurrency | Market Cap | Price/Coin | Change |
